Freelance Toolkit 101
My personal stash of trackers, prompts and more!
Helloooooo!
I tried writing this on Wednesday, hoping to manage my time better, but here we are reliving this meme.

P.S. I created a LinkedIn page where I share such memes (created, edited, shared, and owned by me) because we already do so many things, why not add one more?
Anyway, how have you been?
This edition is special.
Over the last year, I’ve created a few systems, some processes, and a bunch of resources that help me out as a freelancer.
I’ve shared some of them with you over various editions, but I wanted to compile them all in one place, in a structured way, so you can come back to them whenever needed!
Table of Contents

Leads Tracker
This is what I use to track my leads. This has helped me maintain a good pipeline and keeps me up with my follow-ups.

The template has many more columns, and you can always customize it to your liking!
You need to make a copy of it first. Use this guide below to see how to use it!
Prompts for LinkedIn Content
I’m pretty active on LinkedIn now and have been posting at least three times a week since last year. Of course, it takes a lot of time to come up with topics, write them, and then see only 2 likes which is disappointing.
So, I use ChatGPT to help me come up with ideas, and then I write the content. I only pick topics I can genuinely write about, and this has really helped me stay consistent.
Here’s how to go about it:
Open ChatGPT and talk to it about yourself.
(I recommend using the app, so you can talk to it directly without typing everything out.)Share who you are, what services you provide, and your ICP (ideal client profile).
Example: As a B2B SaaS content writer, my ICP is Marketing Managers, Content Heads, and Founders of SaaS companies.Feed this prompt to ChatGPT:
Now that you know my ICP and services, give me 5 topics under each category targeted to my ICP:
Tips, Hacks, Resources, Guides, Lessons, Mistakes, Reflections, Underrated Traits, How to Get Started, Fears, Failures, Struggles.
Paste the ideas into your Excel sheet. This is what mine looks like.

The green ones are the posts I’ve already written.
Now, you’ve got 60 ideas ready for your clients.
Still short on time to write them? No problem! Pick a topic from different categories each time, and use this prompt:
Write a LinkedIn post on this topic from Nikita’s (Your Name) perspective: Overcoming the Fear of Putting Your Content Out There. (Your Topic)
Write like a LinkedIn Ghostwriter with 7 years of experience. Make it engaging and interactive, using simple language and first-person. Keep paragraphs short, avoid jargon, and add emotion to connect with the audience. The hook should be short and clickbaity to grab attention.
Talk to ChatGPT.
Tweak sections you think could be better. Ask for headline options or how to improve a PS statement.
Content Calendar
I’ve tried sticking to content calendars, but they don’t really work for me. Still, they give me a good overview of how my week’s content is scattered.
Here’s a sample calendar you can copy and use. It also has post ideas to get you started:
Cold DM
I’ve always hated outreach and the fact that we have to "warm up" leads. I prefer being direct. This message has actually gotten me replies like this:

Here’s the message I send. Feel free to customize and use it yourself:
Hi [Name],
Thank you for accepting my connection request.
Not taking much of your time just getting straight to the point.
I recently came across [company name] and went ahead and explored the platform.
What you guys have put up there is really commendable!
I’ve been writing SEO-driven SaaS content for over three years and would love the opportunity to contribute to [company name] content efforts.
If this is something that aligns with your needs, I’d be happy to share some of my best writing samples.
If not, that’s completely fine. I’m just excited to connect with you :)
Best regards,
Nikita
Portfolio Template
I’ve tried various formats to present my portfolio. I do have a website, but it includes a lot of other things I do, which can distract prospects.
So, I also created a PDF version with my best work across industries.
Use this template to present your own blogs and fill in your details:
There you go!
Let me know if you find these helpful or end up using any of them! :)
If you are a B2B content writer, check out Fully Content - where I share my 4+ years of knowledge from writing for B2B.

I’ll see you next Friday!
Love,
Nikita
