Lessons and Leads

From 0 to 8 Leads in a Month!

Helloooo!

What's up?

I’m doing well now (recovered from the lingering cough, finally) and hope you’re doing great too!

Let’s get right to business and talk numbers!

August has been the worst month yet in terms of engagement and impressions on my LinkedIn posts.

I planned to post every day of the month (as part of my monthly challenges), but I fell sick and took a while to bounce back.

Here’s the August recap for you (as of 28th Aug)

  • No. of posts: 19

  • Engagement: 776

  • Impressions: 27,274

  • Followers gained: 210

To give you some perspective, here’s my June recap:

  • No. of posts: 14

  • Engagement: 8,866

  • Impressions: 3,106,211

  • Followers gained: 3,934

June was my best month since I started writing on LinkedIn in May.

Here’s another number for you:

  • No. of leads/outreach responses:

    • In June: 0

    • In August: 8

Yeah, same thought!

Now let’s talk about these leads in detail:

A sneak peek to my leads tracker, I just made this!

The Inbounds!

Inbound 1: A startup dealing in imports and exports wants me to write content for their website. We had an initial discussion and are connecting this Saturday for a detailed discussion on deliverables, budget, and timeline.

Inbound 2: An email marketing agency reached out for lead generation (not my expertise). I pitched LinkedIn Marketing to position them as thought leaders and shared a detailed plan. Haven’t heard back yet—will follow up next week.

Inbound 3: A consultant wants LinkedIn marketing for one of his clients. I’ve shared my strategy, and the next step is a call next week, as he’s currently traveling.

Inbound 4: A new founder of a cosmetics brand had a conversation with me, asked for rates, and then ghosted. Will be following up with him again later.

The Outreaches!

Outbound 1: I reached out to them for blog writing (they have ChatGPT-written blogs on their website right now). The founder and I had a detailed conversation, and I shared a proposal for both blog writing and Instagram marketing.

He said they have other priorities right now and will get back to me when they refocus on the website. We’re connected on LinkedIn, so let’s see.

(Reply to this email, and I’ll share the email I received the reply to with you.)

Outbound 2: I showed interest in a LinkedIn ghostwriting position. I submitted a sample, and she liked it, but we couldn’t agree on pricing.

I initially quoted INR 250 per post, but after research, I found the market rate is 850-1000. We discussed revised rates on a call, but it went out of her budget.

Outbound 3 & 4: Both are for blog writing for SaaS. I submitted both assignments yesterday. Hoping for the best!!

Now, here’s what I learned:

  • Impressions ≠ Business

  • Do your research BEFORE quoting a price. Outbound 2 was ideal, but 4xing the price after one call made me lose it.

  • Always discuss rates on a call where you can showcase your work and be more convincing, rather than sharing rates in a chat and getting ghosted.

My goal now is to put out more quality content on LinkedIn, share stories, and be mindful about it. You never know who’s watching.

I’ll share my progress, how much I charged for each project, and the status of the leads next Friday! Subscribe if you haven’t already.

Are you a Swiftie? I am!!

Connect with me on LinkedIn to catch the content that brings in these inbounds!

What are your weekend plans?
Mine is to finish reading ‘A Man Called Ove’. I have been putting it off!

See you next Friday!

Love,
Nikita
