I am a part of this group with some really cool people. It has been the 3 of us for a really long time, but recently it became 4. These are people I look up to. I admire their work, their enthusiasm towards creating meaningful things, and most importantly, the content they consume.

The group was made to share "interesting" things that we have found/read recently, and at this point I am not really sure why I am even a part of it. (I hardly would have shared 2 links in the last 6 months.)

Why am I telling you this? Because I read this article, "How to Enter Side Doors", obviously shared by one of the sweet souls who keeps reminding me why I love(d?) reading and writing so much.

I read the article while walking (need to get the 10k steps in), and I stopped multiple times, saved a lot of sentences I loved or got inspired by, and noted a few ideas that came to my mind by the time I finished reading it.

I've always hated cold emails, outreach, networking, and reaching out to people in general. But I love content and inbound. I've been posting on LinkedIn since April 2024, and it has opened so many windows I didn't even know existed. And that was the point of the entire article above. Be obsessive over something and create opportunities for yourself by standing out, by proving your worth, by reaching out to people you wouldn't even dream of, and by following unconventional ways of finding jobs that suit you.

I did say in the last email that I wanna go back to LinkedIn, which I did. So the first step is taken after tying our shoes (check 2 emails before that, lol).

Now, the direction.

I need to build proof. Proof that I am an exceptional writer who understands people and marketing. And to do that, I self-appointed myself as the acting CMO of an app my friends are building.

You'll see more about it from me on LinkedIn, but I'm creating a plan, pitching it to them, and then acting on it.

It would help me create proof (of content, business, and growth) and help them bring in users, which is their goal.

So a win-win for all 3 of us.

Me, the founders, and the users who will use it. (It is genuinely a nice app, hence the confidence.)

This is window 1.

There's another window I (almost) see. But it needs focus to actually make out what it looks like and where the handle is.

I feel good. July has been good. August will be better.
