Impulsive, Unsure but Determined
Here's how the first half of my year went :)
Hellooooooo!

How have you been?
Yesterday, I was venting to Diksha about how December Nikita feels like a completely different person from October Nikita. That little rant inspired me to write this edition.
So, I took some time to reflect on my year. Here's how it went:
January Nikita
was on her notice period, desperately job hunting because going back home unemployed felt like a personal apocalypse.
With almost zero savings (no Dec-Jan salary because apparently, we live in FnF land—whose genius idea was that?), rent looming, and the nightmare of moving back to her hometown, she was stressed.

She attended her best friend’s wedding but fucked up enough earlier to have created a significant gap between them.
But at the time, all she could think about was getting a job. She’d wake up at 3 a.m. to send out applications.
Freelancing sounded cool, but survival came first.
February Nikita
finally landed a job (remote, thank God). She saved face, decided to leave Bangalore for good, and had fun with her roommates while settling into her new role.
The job involved conceptualizing, creating, and managing social media posts—video editing included. But had the freelancing thought in the back of her mind.

March Nikita
was content. She moved back home to her parents, felt a little stable with her okay-ish job, and began to think about bigger things—like posting on LinkedIn. She also started updating her website and working on her portfolio.
She posted three times that month.
(Here’s my first-ever LinkedIn post if you’re curious.)
April Nikita
had it enough. On a random Tuesday (April 16th, to be exact), she quit her job. Impulsive? Maybe. Necessary? Definitely.
Rent wasn’t an issue anymore, so she chose sanity over stability.
She also decided to give herself 2 whole months (not part-time) to go freelancing. If she couldn’t make what she was making at her full-time job, she’d go back to job hunting in July.

May Nikita started finding her rhythm. She showed up consistently on LinkedIn, mostly with personal stories. She fell for the “comment 10 times a day” and “engage for hours” LinkedIn advice, but outreach didn’t seem to work (one email, no reply—she gave up).
Still, she kept applying for gigs, and on May 29th, she closed her first client.
June Nikita
was on fire. New work, regular LinkedIn posts, and even a viral moment. The cherry on top? A friend reached out for help with his business, offering her 30% more than her full-time job.
That’s when she knew: freelancing wasn’t just a phase—it was happening.

June was also when she met Diksha (yes the one mentioned in the first line) and she is super grateful it happened :)
That’s your six-month recap! I don’t want to bore you with my full 2023 story, but December has me reflecting on the highs, lows, and everything in between.
Because honestly, no matter where you are in life, if you want something badly enough, no excuse can stop you.
In Part 2, we’ll cover the second half of her year. Spoiler: it has heartbreaks, first wins, and bigger dreams (including my first-ever lakh).
Right now, though, I’m in Varanasi, taking a weekend break, catching up with friends, and soaking in the beauty of life.

Wishing you health and happiness.
See you next Friday!
Love,
Nikita
