Resetting in September
Lessons from August, honest wins, and the plan going forward
Helloooooo!
How have you been?
It’s been a while since I did one of these, and honestly, I’ve missed it.
Sharing updates, what’s been going on with me, and of course, September goals!
August Recap
August sucked in every aspect.
I overthought my LinkedIn posts
DNFed 2 books and finished only 1
1 long-term and 1 new client suddenly stopped giving work
Family needed attention, leading to 2 unplanned trips and expenses
I didn’t give 100% to existing clients
Stopped publishing on 3 newsletters for different reasons
Some unexpected things happened that hurt a lot
A very promising prospect confirmed everything on a call, then ghosted after I sent the final proposal (I agreed to his rates, I really don’t know what went wrong here)
Basically, too many things happened at once, and life felt like it was falling apart.
But we made it through. We always do.
Family emergency is okay now
Back on LinkedIn mindfully, not strategically
An existing client gave me additional work, making up for the loss of 2 clients
I’ll probably not restart the stopped newsletters, but I do miss the joy of writing
I’m still processing the “hurt,” but I won’t let it affect my professional life anymore
I’ve read 20/30 books this year, so the goal is 2.5 books per month, but I won’t force it
September Goals
Consistently post and engage on LinkedIn to cross 10k followers (currently at 9,200)
Improve earnings this month (I got too comfortable too soon)
Focus on health, getting fitter definitely helps with productivity
Host Content Brunch #3 (no topic yet, ideas welcome!)
Focus only on this newsletter (grow to 500 subs, currently at 450)
Give 200% to current clients (ties into goal #2)
Revive the “product idea” I shelved during the chaos. I already have a launch date in mind 🙂
I don’t remember the last time I shared this much, but everyone has that month. Mine was August.
The moral: You never know what’s going to hit you until it hits you, and it’s the worst when everything hits at once.
When it does, you have two choices:
Duck down, take the blows, wait for it to pass, then get up and dust yourself off.
Duck down and stay there forever.
And honestly, you always have the choice.
The Brighter Side
I did finish 1 book
I got lots of family time
I learned what it’s like to take responsibility
I know now which things to worry about and which to let go of
I didn’t beat myself up for not meeting my own standards; I just let myself be
We’re in a better headspace now.
Lots of value coming in the next editions and on LinkedIn.
Until then, I wish you peace and clarity.
I’ll see you next Friday!
Love,
Nikita
